5 Effective Ways of Using Lavender Essential Oil To Fight A Variety Of Problems

Essential oils are very potent because they contain highly concentrated segments of plant materials.

Out of all, Lavender essential oil is one of the most versatile essential oils which is known for its calming and curative powers.

Lavender essential oil is my “must-have” product and I always travel with a bottle wherever I go. I would also recommend you all to have this multipurpose essential oil in your daily routine.

It is a bit costly but even a small bottle will last long. I purchased this one 6 months ago and it’s still not even half.

Lavender oil has Antiviral, Antibacterial, Anti-inflammatory and Antifungal properties.

Lavender essential oil is a multipurpose oil.

It has several uses, be it skincare, haircare, to lift your mood, reduce stress, stimulate the blood flow, cell regeneration, etc.

Let’s take a look at some of my favourite ways of using lavender essential oil.

Note: As it is highly concentrated, it is necessary to dilute them with any other carrier oil or water or Aloe Vera gel.

5 Ways I use Lavender Essential Oil are:

1. To reduce inflammation and redness on skin or rash

Lavender has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties which soothe pimple-prone irritated skin or any bruises.

Pour 2-3 drops on a cotton ball and just dab lightly on the inflamed skin (It can be pimples or rashes or any skin infection).

Or  Add 1  drop in 1 tsp of aloe vera gel and refrigerate for 5 minutes.

Apply on the inflamed skin with a cotton bud. After half an hour rinse with cold water.

2. To soothe sunburnt skin

Summer’s irritating scorching heat harms the skin in many ways.

To soothe your sunburnt skin,

Add 1 to 2 drops of lavender essential oil over an ice cube (Preferable – Aloe vera ice cube) and just rub this on your face or any sunburnt part of your body. Leave it on until dry and wash with cold water.

This will make your irritated skin calm and soothing. I swear by the rejuvenating effects of this.

3. Add in your daily cosmetics for natural bodily fragrance

Lavender has a calming and soothing fragrance. Adding it to our daily cosmetics or products will make sure we feel fresh all day long.

How to use it?

Add 1 to 2 drops in your shampoo and conditioner. This will leave your hair fragrant the whole day.

Or

Add 1 to 2 drops in your loofah and rub this loofah on your skin while taking a bath.

Also, you can add a few drops in your body lotion to feel fragrant and fresh the whole day.

4. Use as a natural perfume

Fragrance plays a very important part of lifting our mood and energy.

Whenever we go out we prefer to apply our perfumes so that we feel fresh, energised and positive all day.

Try using Lavender essential oil as your natural perfume by rubbing it on your pulse points such as; behind the ears, neck, wrists and underarms.

For that take 2 to 3 drops of Lavender essential oil in your palms, dab your fingertip in it and rub on all the pulse points.

This will not only make you feel fresh and energised the whole day, but also help in warding away negativity.

5. Use as a Headache reliever or stress buster

Whenever I feel very tired, stressed or if I am suffering from tension headache or PMS headaches or stress headaches, this is my personal favourite solution which I always rely on.

I just take 2-3 drops of lavender essential oil in my palm, rub the palms and massage my temples and forehead, the bottom of my feet, neck, lightly for 2-3 minutes and then rub the palms again and make a cup over my nose like this and take 5 to 10 deep breath. Then I  just get under my blanket for a couple of minutes or cover my face with a cloth.

This relaxes all my nerves and distresses the body and mind.  And believe me, it is way better than applying any medicine or pain relief solution.

Also, you can use lavender oil in a diffuser in your room or office to destress the entire environment around you.

For peaceful sleep, I put 2-3 drops on the corners of my pillow covers or just put a cotton ball soaked in lavender essential oil below my pillow so that it doesn’t stain the pillow cover.

Whenever I am enjoying my ‘me-time’, I just diffuse 9-10 drops of lavender essential oil in a diffuser and do meditation or yoga along with some nice soothing music.

So, these are my ways of incorporating Lavender essential oil in my day to day life. You should also try them and let me know how you felt after trying them in the comments.
