5 Tips For Taking Care Of Your Curly Hair

Not everyone is lucky enough to be blessed by natural curly hair. If you are one of those who have god-given curls, then do yourself a favour, never take them for granted and ensure to take extra care whenever you can.

I have naturally curly hair, and I feel, they require the least maintenance as compared to other types of hair (At least that’s what I think). However, that doesn’t mean they don’t need pampering once in a while.

If natural curly hair is your USP, then keep your hair healthy and beautiful by following helpful tips mentioned in this article.

 1. Never Comb Your Hair After They’re Dry

First apply a nice hair serum in your hair.

Comb with your fingers first to free your entangled hair and then use a wide-tooth comb to style them.

2 . Nourish your hair with aloe vera gel.

In a spray bottle add Aloe vera gel, coconut oil and few drops of your favourite essential oil (Rosemary/Ylang-ylang/lavender/tea-tree/peppermint).

Spray this mixture on your hair and scalp. Do a light massage. Keep this overnight and wash your hair the next day with water.

This is so light, you can keep this hair mask on even if you want to go out. It acts as a leave-on conditioner for your hair.

Aloe Vera Gel quickly gets absorbed in your scalp and nourishes your curls, while coconut oil has anti-fungal properties thus prevents dandruff by providing enough nourishing.

Essential oil adds fragrance as well as helps to protect the scalp leaving a nice aromatic smell into our hair. For best results apply this on your hair twice a week.

You can also add aloe vera gel in your shampoo (1 part shampoo:1 aloe vera gel) and conditioner (1 part conditioner: 1 part aloe vera gel)

3. Love your hair

Sometimes curly hair can be a bit difficult to handle. Don’t detest your hair but instead love and nourish them. Curly hair is nature’s boon. It helps you stand apart in a crowd from the rest.

Never go for permanent straightening / smoothening/ keratin treatment.

It’s a temporary solution to the problems related to your curly hair. Instead, go for natural ways to handle it.

If you want straight hair look, you can temporarily straighten them with a hair straightening iron. Make sure you take extra precautions such as applying heat resistance gel/serum first and never overheat the iron.

Apply a hydrating conditioner first if you have straightened your hair and want to take a hair wash.

4. Try to avoid blow-drying as much as possible and opt for natural air drying method.

Curly hair tends to get frizzy and dry more than straight hair

Blow drying makes them more frizzy and dry, as it steals away the moisture.

Naturally, air drying can lock the moisture in our hair. It’s a benefit of curly hair that they get dry faster than the straight ones.

If you are in a rush to dry and manage your curls, you can blow dry with cold air and curl diffuser.

5. Use water spray to manage curly hair

If you don’t have time to wash your hair, manage your curly hair with water spray/ homemade moisturising hair serum

To manage curly hair and to have the best of them, we need to wash/wet them quite often.

My hair gets messy and unmanageable whenever I wake up. All the curls become frizzy and unmanageable. So I have to wet my hair every day to make them manageable.

Since I have started following this tip, my hair problems have reduced drastically.

This completely transforms your frizzy, curly, and unmanageable hair into shiny and beautifully sculpted curls.

Spray this mixture in hair and scrunch using fingers and let it air dry.

Or water sprays in your hair and take a little coconut oil and water (1: 2 ratio) in your palm. Rub and scrunch your curls. You’ll get beautiful shine in your hair and curls with more definition.
