DIY Lip Scrub, Lip Balm and Lip Oil – Make Lip Care Kit At Home

This harsh weather creates havoc on our skin, hair and lips!

The skin of our lips is thin and lacks oil glands which are found on the rest of our body. Our lips, therefore, get dry and damaged in winters if proper care is not taken.

Let me share with you all you my personal winter lip care routine which will dramatically transform your dry, chapped lips into plump, glossy and well-moisturized ones.

This winter lip care routine consists of 3 steps.

  1. Scrubbing

To make DIY lip scrub;

Simply add;

  • 1 tsp ground brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground coffee powder
  • 1 tsp beetroot powder
  • ¼ tsp or 1 tablet vitamin E
  • 2 tsp olive oil and
  • 4 to 5 drops of peppermint or cinnamon essential oil (I am adding 2 drops of each peppermint and cinnamon essential oil)
  • Mix them all really well and pour it in an empty container.

How to use;

Apply over the lips, scrub gently, keep it on for 15-20 minutes and wash.

After 15-20 minutes dab your lips dry.

Next step is to provide moisture to our lips by applying this lip oil.

2. Lip Oil

The ingredients we will be needing for this lip oil are;

Pure clarified butter (also known as ghee in India)

Cow ghee is a very popular ingredient to prevent chapped lips. It seals moisture on our lips and makes them soft and supple. Also, regular use of Ghee on our lips lightens dark lips.

Avocado oil (If you don’t have avocado oil then you can replace it with Argan oil)

Avocado oil penetrates quickly and deeply leaving our chapped lips fuller and healthy.

Castor oil

Castor oil is a perfect moisturizer for chapped and damaged lips. It conditions our lips deeply. Castor oil contains fatty acids which retain moisture on our lips and prevent our lips from drying out.

Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil is rich in vitamin E and by applying this oil it forms a protective barrier over dry and chapped lips to lock in moisture and leave them soft and smooth even in cold weather.

Cinnamon essential oil

This essential oil promotes healthy blood flow to our lips and makes them plump. It gives a tingling sensation on our lips.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is known for its antioxidant properties. Which creates a protective barrier over our lips against the harmful free radicals and reverse the damage caused by them.

To make this lip oil add;

  • 1/2 tsp cow ghee/clarified butter
  • 1/2 tsp avocado oil
  • 1/4 tsp castor oil
  • 1 tsp Jojoba oil &
  • 1-2 drops of cinnamon essential oil
  • Stir well and mix all the ingredients properly and fill the lip oil in an empty roll-on bottle like this using a funnel.
  • Make sure to apply the lip oil every night before going to sleep to get fresh looking, well moistured and naturally pink lips.

And the last step in this process is to apply a homemade cocoa butter lip balm.

3. Cocoa lip balm

To make this lip balm we need just 3 ingredients;

  1. Beeswax
  2. Cocoa butter
  3. Coconut oil

If you wish you can also add essential oil for the fragrance.

Add all these ingredients in a saucepan and melt them using a double boiler method.

Once completely melted remove from heat and add essential oil.

Stir well and pour in an empty lip balm container.

Let it get solid completely.

At room temperature, it will take certain hours to get solid. (Depending on the weather condition)

You can also keep it in the refrigerator for an hour to speed up the process.

Apply a layer of this lip balm whenever you feel your lips are getting dry.

I am not bragging about this it is an instant fix to your dry, chapped and lifeless lips. Try this yourself and give me a feedback about it in the comment section below.

‘Wishing you a happy, healthy and shiny lips with a bright smile!’ 😉

Keep smiling!
